Fixing A Slow Computer

Do you have a feeling that your computer is taking too much time to boot? When you install new software into your computer or download new programs, the computer becomes slow over time. It can be frustrating when the computer takes a long time to start and perform various operations. The reasons for the slow boot up can be many and you will have to find the exact reason for this to fix slow computer issue. Instructions to Fix Slow Computer

  • Update the operating system of your computer. You can turn on the automatic update of your operating system. To do this, click on Start, go to Control Panel, select Performance and Maintenance and then go to System. Select the Automatic Updates tab and choose Automatic. After doing this, set the time and day on which you need the computer to download the latest updates and click on Apply and then OK.
  • Clean the registry of the computer. As the Windows operating system does not have a tool to clean the registry, you may download a reputed registry cleaner to perform the operation. A good registry cleaner will arrange the registry files to fasten your computer without deleting the critical registry files and entries.
  • Run a Disk Cleanup to free up space in your hard drive. To do this, click on Start, select All Programs and then Accessories. From there, select System Tools. From the options, select Disk Cleanup. Select the drive that you want to clean and click on the OK button.
  • You can also try to arrange the files in your computer to give room to other files on your PC. To do this, run the Disk Defragmenter tool. You can select this from System Tools. Perform the defragmentation and restart your computer.
  • Remove any viruses, adware and spywares that have infected your computer. These will eat up your resources and disk space, making your computer very slow and it may also damage the data in your computer.
  • Delete those files and unwanted applications that you no longer use. To uninstall unwanted programs, go to the Control Panel and select Add/Remove Programs. Select the programs that you no longer use and remove them from your computer.
  • You can also upgrade your RAM. Right click on the My Computer icon and select Properties from the list. Under the General tab, you can see the installed RAM in your computer.
