Steps To Fix XP Services Settings


By design, Microsoft Windows XP automatically initiates the services enabled on your computer during system start-up. XP loads in the services like Remote Procedure Call and DCOM Server Process Launcher, which are essential for the efficient running of the operating system. The services running in the background can however make your system run slow and can offer slow computing. You can kill these services when you do not need them. Follow the steps below to easily fix the above.

Switch on your desktop or laptop.
Enter your password and username next to the labels Username and Password to log into your administrative account.  
Launch the Start menu by clicking on the Start icon located on the bottom left corner of the task bar on your Window’s home screen.
Select Control Panel from the start menu popup.
Open the Control panel window and switch to classic view.
Select the label that reads Administrative Tools from the control panel window.
Select the Services option from the Administrative Tools window.
This will make the Service window to pop up. Choose the option Service Name and then click on the Properties label from the Service Name sub menu. If you want to change the Print Spooler service settings, right click on the Print Spooler service and then click on Properties.
Select the General tab from the properties dialogue box. Initiate the process by clicking on the Start button. To stop the process, click on the Stop button.
Right-click on the Log On tab and then click the This account option. This will let the service run under any other user account.
Select the Browse button and then select the user account under which you want to run the service. Enter your password next to the field that says Password.
Select the Recovery tab to set recovery options for the above service. Take No Action, Restart the Service, Run a Program and Restart the Computer would be the three options left before you. Choose the option that is appropriate for your computer.
Click on the Apply button, and then hit the OK button to exit the setup process.
