Steps To Uninstall Windows Live Programs

Windows Live Essentials is a great package from Microsoft that has different programs included in it like Photo Gallery, Family Safety, Movie Maker, Toolbar, Mail, Writer and Messenger. If you wish to log in to any of these services, all you need is a Windows Live ID. The username and password for this Id can be used for all Windows Live services.

Steps Involved

When you download the Windows Live Essentials package, all the programs are included in it. Now, if you do not wish to use some of these programs, you can uninstall them from your computer. This will save your computers storage space and memory. In this post, we will guide you through the steps to uninstall Windows Live programs from different versions of Windows operating systems.

Uninstalling from Windows XP

According to Windows online support, you can uninstall Windows Live programs from Windows XP with a few simple steps. Let us go through the steps below.
  • Turn on the computer and login to the user account that has administrator rights. Remember that you cannot uninstall programs from the user accounts that do not have administrative privileges. 
  • Open the Start menu and click the option Control Panel.
  • When the Control Panel window opens, locate and double click the icon for Add or Remove programs.
  • The window for Add or Remove Programs contains all the programs installed in your computer. From this list, click the Windows Live programs that you wish to uninstall and click Remove.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the removal process.
  • Restart the computer from the Start menu when the removal process finishes.
Uninstalling from Windows Vista or Windows 7
  • Launch the Start menu and in the Search field, enter Programs and Features. From the search results, click Programs and Features.
  • In the window for Programs and Features, select the option Uninstall a program.
  • From the list of programs, locate the Windows Live programs that you no longer wish to keep and select the option Uninstall. You can find the Uninstall option at the top of the window.
  • Follow the step-by-step removal process.
  • Restart the computer.
